Once you've made homemade dumpling dough, you won't go back to the store-bought stuff again!

This recipe follows the simple ratio of 4 parts plain flour to 1 part hot water (with salt). If the dough is too sticky, gradually add more flour. If the dough is too tough, gradually add some hot water. The general rule of thumb is approximately 1/2 cup flour will equate to about 10-12 dumpling skins, so this recipe should make enough for 4 people (or 3 very hungry people).

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Corn flour (for dusting)

Method

  1. Dissolve salt in the hot water
  2. Combine the salty hot water and the flour in a bowl with a spoon or spatula
  3. Once the dough is starting to form, knead it in the bowl until the dough is smooth
  4. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes
  5. Pinch of small sections of dough to roughly form balls with a 2cm diameter
  6. Lightly cover the ball in corn flour and roll it into a circle
